Colorado Middle School coin drive brings in over $1,000
The Colorado Middle School students are working together to raise fund to purchase gifts to donate to the residents of Mitchell County Nursing and Rehabilitation. A coin drive has begun at the school to raise funds to donate to the local nursing home to help with Christmas related expenses.
“We are so excited to announce that through December 6, we have raised $1,400.67 for our adopted nursing home residents,” CMS Principal Lorianne Toombs said.
Students should bring their coins to school and put them in their Reading teacher’s bucket. The CMS yearbook staff will collect the coins daily and count them. The grade level that collects the most money will get a pizza party from Toombs.
The last day for coin collections will be Wednesday, December 8.
“We at Colorado Middle School want to give back to our community, and this is one way we can support others,” Toombs said. “We hope what we collect will help give the residents of the nursing home the best Christmas ever.”
