Local elections to be held Saturday

Election day is just around the corner for the City of Colorado City and Colorado Independent School District. Saturday, May 1, will be the day you may cast your vote if you live in District 1 in the City of Colorado City or District 6 of Colorado ISD .

Early voting ended Tuesday in the local election and voting totals through Tuesday were somewhat below average.

As of Tuesday afternoon, 35 people had voted in the Colorado ISD election. The contested race is in District 6, where incumbent Sheila Plagens is being challenged by Liliana Ornelas.

In the City of Colorado City race for District 1, between incumbent Raymond Whitener and opponent Sammy Contreras, Jr., 10 people had voted. Robert Oliver, who is running for mayor of Colorado City, does not have an opponent. Oliver is currently on the city council as District 6 representative.

Remember Election day is May 1, where all voting will be done at the Civic Center.
