Swimming lessons to be given at city pool

June 23, 2021

The first session of swimming lessons will be held July 6 – 9 at the City Pool, located in Ruddick Park, 1205 8th Street, in Colorado City.

Certified lifeguards will be passing on their love of swimming to the younger kids of Mitchell County.

According to pool manager Crystal Grimes, there’s still time to sign your little one up for lessons during the first session.

Cost is $60 per swimmer, and lessons will be held in the mornings. The second session is planned to be held July 13 through 16.

The pool is open Tuesday through Sunday each week from noon to 5 p.m. Lifeguards are on duty for the safety of swimmers. Cost is $5, a cheap price for some cool fun on a hot west Texas afternoon.

For avid swimmers, the city offers a discounted rate in the form of a pool pass. Individual passes can be purchased for $80 for one person, with each additional person added to the pass only costing $50. This replaces the family pass. Each person included in a group must be listed by name in the pool register. Only the persons listed in that group will be allowed into the pool under that pass.

Each person must show some form of identity to be admitted on a season pass. No more than five persons will be allowed on each pass registration. There will be no substituting of persons on a season pass. If an immediate family group has more than five members, an exception may be granted after substantial proof is given.

The pool is available to rent for swimming parties. Cost is $150 for one and one half hours or $300 for three hours and $450.00 for four and one half hours. Call city hall to make reservations now.

Pool parties must be paid for at the time of booking. Payment is non-refundable except that in instances of stormy weather, the party will be rescheduled.
