Local teams to begin scrimmages Friday

August 11, 2021

All local schools will compete in their first scrimmage of the year Friday night. The Wolves will scrimmage Christoval Friday at Wolf Stadium, beginning with junior varisity at 5 p.m. followed by the varisty team.

As in years past, this week’s scrimmage will be the “Our Day to Shine” event. Colorado City and Christoval will charge a $1 fee to get into the scrimmage, with all proceeds being donated to the Texas High School Coaches Education Foundation Benevolence Fund.

The THSCEF Benevolence fund was established by the Texas High School Coaches Association Board of Directors to assist athletes and coaches experiencing hardships. To date, over 1,165 schools have participated in Our Day to Shine and have raised over $721,000. The THSCEF has paid over $641,000 to athletes and coaches in need.

The Wolves next scrimmage will be against Merkel on Thursday, August 19. That scrimmage will be held in Merkel.

The Westbrook Wildcats will travel to Spur for a 6 p.m. scrimmage. The

Wildcats will follow Friday’s scrimmage with a final tune-up August 20 in Baird.

Loraine will kick-off their pre-season scrimmage in Hermleigh with a 7 p.m. start time. The scrimmage will be a good work out for both teams as they start their 2021 season. Next week, the Bulldogs will face Robert Lee at home beginning at 6 p.m.
