Patriot Rally begins Saturday

September 08, 2021

Time has finally arrived for the West Texas Patriots Rally that will be held in Colorado City on Saturday and Sunday, September 11 and 12 at the Mitchell County Fair Grounds.

Headlining the event are two candidates who are running for governor in the upcoming Republican Primary race. Candidates Allen West and Don Huffines will speak Sunday afternoon to conclude the event.

The heart of this event, according to organizers Mitchell County Republicans, is to connect concerned freedom-loving Texans to organizations and individuals who are boots on the ground across the state fighting to protect the traditional ideals, freedoms, and values that have made Texas historically a great place to live.

Gates will open for the public at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. West Texas folks are invited to come out and shop various mom and pop businesses, enjoy foods from area food trucks, and partake in a series of workshop style presentations by an all-star cast of citizen activists.

Workshops will happen at one hour intervals beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Each presentation will conclude with time for questions and answers from the audience.

The event will switch gears and go for a lighter atmosphere Saturday evening from 7-9 p.m. with live “Southern Rock Country” style music from The Band Big Spring. Band members describe themselves as “just some West Texas guys who live to perform” and they do indeed put on a great performance. If you enjoy an energetic band who brings it all to the stage with every riff, move, and lyric you’ll want mark your calendar and make the short drive to the Mitchell County Fairgrounds for their performance. Admission will be by donation at the door.

On Sunday, the day will begin with a 10:00 a.m. worship service led by singer/songwriter, cowboy poet, and minister Jeff Gore. The service is open to any who may not have a church to attend on Sunday. Or attend your local home church and come out to the rally after to grab lunch from one of the food trucks on site. Tables will be set up inside to barn for those who’d like to sit down to eat and visit.
