Heavy rains lead to flooding in Mitchell County; citizens enjoy fly-in breakfast

Rain began over six hours ago in Mitchell County. It has been raining, very heavy at times, which has led to creeks and rivers bring out of their banks. There is a chance fir more rain though-out the weekend. Do not drive through high water and flooded roads. Hwy. 208 north of Colorado City has several places that were flooding earlier Saturday morning.

The July 4th Fly-In in Colorado City didn’t see any planes, but lots of local citizens coming out to enjoy the breakfast prepared by City National Bank. Annual MC Nancy Masters was there — rain couldn’t keep her away. She was awarded a plaque for dedication over the years to the fly-in. Local citizen Bobby Lemons was also recognized for his dedication to the fly-in over the years.
